Lesson 4: RISEN framework

Another amazing framework for crafting effective prompts for AI models like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and others is RISEN. 

Developed by Kyle Balmer, RISEN is designed to enhance the clarity, relevance, and precision of AI-generated responses by guiding users through five key components:

• Role: Assign a specific persona or function to the AI. For example, instructing the AI to act as a “marketing strategist” or “data analyst” helps tailor its responses to the desired expertise.​
  
• Instructions: Clearly articulate the task you want the AI to perform. Providing concise and direct instructions ensures the AI understands your request.​
  
• Steps: Outline a sequence of actions or considerations for the AI to follow. This step-by-step guidance helps structure the AI’s response
  
• End Goal: Specify the desired outcome or objective of the task. Defining the end goal helps the AI focus its response toward achieving that specific result.​
  
• Narrowing: Set boundaries or constraints to focus the output. This could include word limits, specific formats, or particular aspects to emphasize.
